I don't want you to get stressed out this holiday season and dread January 1st and I don't think you want that either. So this year, let's enjoy the holidays and our health. Let's enjoy the food and friends as well as the fitness. So here's what I propose to you: If you're new or getting back into fitness start one just one type of movement a week. If you've been here awhile, try focusing on balance your types of movements during the week. If you're in instructor/training, the classes you're teaching (if you're moving) count. So maybe you typically work out 6 days a week. Instead of 3 cardio and 3 strength, try adding a restorative type activity or swapping out one of your cardio/strength days for a restorative day. If you can't swap out, add more. It doesn't have to be an hour but maybe you'll end up there. Maybe it's just 5 minutes here or there. That's a great way to start. Try planning out your holidays now. When will all the parties be? When do you need to set up the Christmas tree? Go shopping? Wrap gifts? Will you be hosting? Start mentally preparing yourself now for what's about to come and maybe spend some of that restorative time preparing your mind and body for the potential stress. Are there going to be parties? Absolutely! Does that mean we have to food prep and not enjoy the delicious foods available? Nope. Does that mean we don't eat all day so we can binge at the parties? Nope. Again, try eating regular meals throughout those days so you don't overindulge
